In my current role, I built a design function from the ground up within a corporate environment that had traditionally relied on outsourcing for all it’s creative support. That meant bringing in the right structure, processes and ways of working and shifting mindsets along the way. Helping departments see design not as a nice-to-have, but as a critical part of the business vision.

Day to day, I oversaw everything from how work came in to how it went out, aligning people and priorities so things moved efficiently. A big part of that was simply building trust across departments and showing what good design could do for them in practical terms. I also worked with external agencies on all campaign work to make sure the company's brand direction was properly understood and methodically executed.

I took a fairly undefined role and grew it into something the business could genuinely rely on.

My background spans graphic design, finished art and corporate leadership, so I understand both the craft and the complexity of running a design function well. I'm hands-on with Adobe Creative Suite and enjoy exploring how AI can sharpen how we work, but my focus is just as much on people, systems and environment, because that's how things get done and how we have impact.

I care about the details, but I care just as much about impact. I leave ego at the door and focus on delivery and outcomes. For me, building a functional team means creating a space where creativity is taken seriously, given room to grow and set up to do its best work.

About

My background in hospitality built a strong work ethic. Busy restaurants can be hectic, and that environment taught me how to problem solve on the spot, stay calm under pressure, and most importantly, pick a great wine.

Living and working overseas did the same. It's exciting and terrifying, and it pushed me out of my comfort zone whether I was ready for it or not.

These days, I'm well-practiced in multitasking by my two adopted pups, Bessie the grey and Norman the goldie.
